The capital city has been transformed into a magical destination for all the family to enjoy. Opening back in the middle of November, you can enjoy a variety of Christmas events and activities until the 7th January across the city.
There really is something to suit everyone, from watching the lights to enjoying the markets, visiting Santa’s Reindeer garden to paying a visit to the Winter Wonderland, you can have days of festive fun in Edinburgh.
Ice Skating in Aberdeen’s Christmas Village – November 17th – December 31st
Christmas isn’t complete until you’ve had a go on an open-air ice rink with friends or family, so we’d recommend heading to the Aberdeen Christmas Village before New Year’s Eve to find the open-air ice rink. The ice skating is open every day until 10pm so you can enjoy the experience at a time that suits you.
Glasgow Christmas Markets
If you want a festive shopping experience, then head to one of the Christmas markets in Glasgow to pick up plenty of stocking fillers and enjoy the refreshments and entertainment. Santa’s Cove – Glasgow
Something that is more suited to the younger members of the family, Santa’s Cove at Intu Braehead in Glasgow is designed to transport children to a world of festivities featuring elves, Mrs Claus and the man himself, Santa. For around £10 a ticket, you’ll be greeted by the elves and taken on a tour around the cove, exploring a land of candy canes, sleighs, reindeers and more. This is a great day out for all the family and perfect entertainment for children over the winter holidays. Santa’s Cove is open now and will remain open until Christmas eve!
Edinburgh’s Hogmanay
Whilst you’re planning your Christmas days out, you may as well spare a thought for how you’re going to wish in the New Year and we think heading to Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is a great way to celebrate the end of 2017. The torchlight procession will pass through Old Town on December 30th and then its time to join in with the Hogmanay Street Party and firework display on New Year’s Eve.
If music is an essential for you at New Year’s, then you’ll want to head to the Concert in Princess Street Gardens at 8pm to watch acts such as Rag’n’Bone Man perform!
